WH&LA provides opportunities for students enrolled in hospitality degreed programs or student employees working at Wisconsin Lodging properties. 
 

Educational support for the future leaders of Wisconsin's hotel & lodging industry

We are pleased to support the education of endeavors of students pursuing careers in the lodging industry through the WH&LA Scholarship program. This year, WH&LA disbursed $4,000 through its two scholarship programs for hotel management and hospitality students in Wisconsin.  

WH&LA Merit Scholarship - $2,000 
WH&LA is proud to support students pursuing degrees in hospitality and hotel management with our annual Merit Scholarship. 

GMH&LA Cal Worrell Memorial Scholarship - $1,000
The Cal Worrell Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student pursuing a career in hotel management.
Funded by the Greater Madison Hotel & Lodging Association and The Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club. 
In remembrance and appreciation for his commitment to the lodging industry, WH&LA presents the Cal Worrell Memorial Scholarship. As General Manager of The Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor’s Club, and as an avid supporter of the lodging industry, Mr. Worrell served multiple terms on the WH&LA Board of Directors. His leadership and dedication also earned him the 1995 Innkeeper of the Year award. 

WWIL's Kari Zambon Memorial Scholarship - $1,000
In honor of her heart for hospitality, spirit of service, and dedication to the Northwoods and WH&LA, the Wisconsin Women in Lodging are proud to present for the first time in 2021 the Kari Zambon Memorial Scholarship.  As co-owner of Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander, WI, Kari was instrumental in positioning the region as a premier vacation destination through her work on numerous boards including the Chamber Board of Directors, Rhinelander Tourism & Marketing Committee, and the Oneida County Tourism Council. Kari was a committed leader of WH&LA, serving multiple terms on the WH&LA Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the association. Her contributions and achievements also earned her the 1997 & 2008 Innkeeper of the Year award.  

Eligibility Requirements
  1. Reside in Wisconsin 
  2. Enrolled in an accredited WH&LA member college or university with a major in a hospitality program with lodging components
  3. Work Experience in the hospitality industry

  2.  Statement (maximum 500 words) on your personal background including information on: work experience in the lodging industry; aptitudes and interests which will allow you to succeed; future goals.

  5.  Two letters of recommendation from your choice of two of the following sources: Instructor, Lodging Supervisor, Personal Reference
