For more than 80 years, AAA has used professional inspectors to conduct anonymous, in-person property evaluations. AAA offers the only rating system using comprehensive, on-site professional hotel and restaurant evaluations guided by member priorities. With a far greater inventory than any other rating entity, AAA’s rating system covers the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Each year AAA reviews nearly 28,000 hotels – Just 0.4 percent make the AAA Five Diamond list and  The American Club Resort in Kohler, Wisconsin!

Just 5.9 percent of the nearly 28,000 hotels Approved by AAA make the Four Diamond list. The properties below were named Four Diamond Hotels:

AAA Diamond Ratings for hotels represent a combination of the overall quality, range of facilities and level of services offered by the property. The descriptive ratings are assigned exclusively to properties that meet and uphold AAA’s rigorous Approval standards.

the sky with vivid streaks of yellow, orange, and red. Framed by 300 miles of rocky, scenic shoreline, Door County is home to oceanfront experiences and seaside escapes hidden within the heart of the Midwest. Launched in 2006, Travel Green promotes smart, environmentally friendly businesses offering certification to those who earn a total of 35 points or more in nine sustainable, eco-friendly categories ranging from waste reduction to education and landscape conservation. By patronizing green businesses you are investing in a sustainable future locally, nationally, as well as, internationally that undoubtedly preserves and protects the environment for generations to come. By purchasing local fruit, vegetables, fish, and other food staples along with organic cleaning products and recycled paper products, Travel Green certified lodging establishments support local businesses and lessen their environmental impact. This effort is carried over into on-site composting programs to reduce waste, fluorescent lighting to reduce energy use, and regular maintenance of water-using appliances such as faucets and toilets to conserve water. Every little bit of effort makes a difference as many Door County Travel Green certified businesses have discovered. In just a year, Door County participants of Travel Green were able to save over $17,000 in energy costs and reduce annual CO2 emissions by over 207,000 pounds.

Congratulations go out to The Iron Horse Hotel who yesterday received the Boutique Hotel of the Year award from the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association.

According to hotel owner Tim Dixon, “Our hotel has quickly become a diamond in the rough – a property in design much like a NY or LA hotel but delivered with our staff’s famous Midwestern hospitality. Despite our September 2008 opening in the worst economic time for the travel industry, our small Milwaukee hotel has managed to compete at the same level as hotels in the major markets.”

From a “100-year-old warehouse” to a “luxury Milwaukee boutique hotel”, The Iron Horse Hotel is the industry’s first modern boutique hotel geared towards business and leisure travelers along with a growing segment of motorcycle enthusiasts.

For more information on The Iron Horse Hotel click on over to WisconsinLodging.org. Congratulations again to the team at The Iron Horse Hotel!
